ENOR-MOSS COURAGE UNDER FIRE

 

Roll-Up stalwart Tony Moss emerged as the victor at the Players' Championship, snatching the title from a throng of chasers, with a gutsy up 'n' down under pressure at Urban Golf Smithfield on Monday night.

 

Moss collected a £25 Voucher for the win and 100 Order Of Merit race points. His 22 points on the back 9 were enough to pip the field by one point. Not one to blow his own trupmet, his long-time coach Steve Smith commented "We fine-tuned Tony's forward swing earlier prior to this event, and Tony has done the necessary work to make it stick under pressure, so I'm happy for him...but it was all me really". Moss' season has been blighted by outside commitments preventing him from playing as many events as he would like in the early part of the season. But that has not served to halt his meteoric rise up the order of merit table over the last fortnight.

 

David Shaw, put in another good shift, securing outright 4th place. Potten, Smith and Amar shared the crumbs tied for 5th. The atmosphere in the assembled gallery threatened briefly to boil over as Chris Potten 'not to be forgotten' putted off the green while attempted to force a playoff. Fortunatley discretion won the day and order was restored.
