ROLL UP ROLL UP The competition at our Monday night roll ups is really hotting up with a shock win for Matt Randle seeing him shoot up the order of merit after a winning streak of 3 in a row from Dirty Rotten Chris Potten. Monday 17th August 2009 was at ‘The Judge’ (Last 12 holes), part of the Robert Trent Jones Trail. This ‘Prattville’ monster is longer than the OJ Simpson trial so it perhaps came as no surprise that Caroline Baker sealed a comfortable victory making the most of the ladies tees and soon to be cut handicap. Some comments were made about the advantages of playing off ladies tees in terms of the length of the championship layout– in response the committee has unequivocally decreed that any gentleman golfer who wishes to don feminine attire will be permitted to play off the ladies teeing ground in future events. The Monday Night Roll Up is open to anyone looking for a bit of friendly competition. Our Next Roll-Up is tonight, Monday 14th September. The players will be rocking up to Cog Hill, with the Order Of Merrit still up for grabs. The Dubsdread course at Cog Hill hosts the BMW Championship on the PGA tour, and has become the playground of Tiger Woods. To book your place email davidford@urbangolf.co.uk

TIP OF THE MONTH No.3: TRANSFORM YOUR RUSTY IRONS INTO IRON AWE |
|
Golfers capable of accurately controlling the direction and distance of their approach shots to the green significantly increase the chances of scoring better. Keeping the ball in the fairway off the tee makes this task easier; generating even more chances to reduce your score. Here’s some helpful advice from the Urban Golf Academy: Accuracy and precision distance control requires putting your body in the kind of condition that will make the desired swing motion easy to repeat when it matters. The better your ‘Set Condition’ (as we call it) the greater your chances of creating better conditions for impact with the golf ball as you swing towards the target. Routinely note –from the ground up:
…you’re now Set, and in desirable condition to feel your upcoming swing motion. Now you can more effortlessly find the swing motion which will work best. May all your drives be long and on target, if not our Urban Golf Professionals are always on hand.
