Dan's 5 Tips For The WGC-HSBC Champions

Tue 01st November, 2011

Double Return!! Last week I tipped both Richie Ramsey and Miguel Angel Jiminez at 60/1 and 75/1 respectively and they both finished in the Top-5 meaning a £5 each way bet (£10 total stake) on each player would have returned you £178.75.

This week is the WGC-HSBC Champions event at Sheshan. Having looked towards the shorter straighter hitters last week with some success, this week I will be looking toward the Asian Golf specialists. Conditions can be quite damp and humid so it will be interesting to see who holds their own. This field is made up of some of the finest and most in form golfers which makes the job of the Urban Golf tipster extremely difficult.

Lee Westwood - 10/1
Second favourite being McIlroy this week and shows some value at 10/1. Westwood always seems to perform well when playing in Asia and after his final round last week in Shanghai that included a hole in one and 7 birdies he will be much fancied. Put that against the fact that the win that got him into this tournament was the Ballatines Championship which also took place in Asia and we may just be looking at our winner.

Hunter Mahan - 25/1
Looks to have adapted to golf in Asia pretty well after securing a Tied-3rd finish last week in Shanghai. Also finished 2nd in the Tour Championship, narrowly missing out to Bill Haas after a playoff. Hunter appears to be on form and could be in with a chance.

KJ Choi - 35/1
KJ has had five consecutive Top 10 finishes worldwide including a win in his own tournament on the Asian Tour. A big name player on tour and extremely consistent.

Thomas Bjorn - 66/1
Bjorn has won 3 times this season and his form looks like its still with him after a Tied 15th last week in Valderamma. Usually performs well in a limited field with no cut so keep your eyes peeled. For someone that won 2 on the spin a couple of months ago he offers great value.

Simon Dyson - 80/1
Dyson has won twice on tour this season and has to be one of my most backed players recently, at 80/1 he looks to offer great value, especially for someone that spend a fair amount of their early career plugging away on the Asian Tour.
