Dan's 5 Tips For The Qatar Masters

Thu 02nd February, 2012

Some of the big names in the game are still present with the likes of Westwood, Kaymer and Quiros all playing. However with Westwood struggling with an injury and Quiros and Kaymer coming off the back of a missed cut in Abu Dhabi then it looks like there may be some value with other players.

Thomas Bjorn – 25/1
Thomas looks like his career may be taking the same turn as Miguel Angel Jimenez and is enjoying some of his finest golf in his latter years. Thomas will be defending champion this week and coming off the back of a 3rd place finish last week he will be full of confidence.

George Coetzee – 33/1
George, or Joy as he is known on tour is waiting for his first tour win, and I have a feeling it is just round the corner. Has been a solid and consistent performer and finished 6th last week amongst a stellar field.

Matteo Mannasero  - 50/1
Lit up the second round of last week’s tournament with a blistering 65, so we know that the magic he possesses is there somewhere. Finished Tied 6th last week and will have the Ryder Cup in the back of his mind as well one thinks.

Paul Lawrie – 50/1
Enjoying some of the finest golf of his career at the moment. His last three starts have resulted in 8th, 10th and 2nd placed finishes. Two of these results have come in the Middle East as well so he clearly likes it out here. Must be getting used to not playing in waterproofs!

Richard Finch - 150/1
If Finchy can keep his fair skin from sizzling in the Doha heat then he may be looking for a similar result to last year. Managed a Top 10 last year and has shown sign of playing some decent golf. Had a nice opening round last week but a disappointing final round saw him slip to 30th.
